On Monday, the crazy world of professional wrestling became all-too-serious when WWE announcer Jerry Lawler, the charismatic personality who goes by the moniker “The King”  and has been affiliated with professional wrestling for more than 40 years, suffered a heart attack during a live taping of Monday Night Raw in Montreal.

According to what his broadcast partner, Michael Cole, told the television audience, Lawler, 62, was breathing on his own but the situation was “serious.”

Video shot by an eyewitness in the audience of Lawler being transported out of the arena on a gurney follows.

The WWE issued the following statement:

“Jerry “The King” Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night’s broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal. We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family.”
