A new product coming soon to the Dallas Cowboys’ team store: ‘Jerry Wipes’
In response to the hullabaloo and fanfare surrounding what occurred in Dallas Cowboys owner’s suite during the team’s game against the New York Giants last Wednesday when cameras caught his son-in-law performing the task of cleaning Jerry Jones’ glasses, a new product will soon be available on the Cowboys’ official site: Jerry Wipes.
That’s right, Shy Anderson, Jones’ aforementioned son-in-law, is apparently as enterprising of an entrepreneur as they come, as he has turned a humorous moment into what potentially could develop into a lucrative endeavor: the production of custom eyeglass-cleaning cloths with “Jerry Wipes” printed on them.
Anderson, saying that “They can also be used for spontaneous shoe shining, if necessary,” said Jerry Wipes “started out as a joke,” but wants to see ” how far we can take it,” explained what exactly how he ended up cleaning his father-in-law’s glasses on Wednesday (via The Dallas Morning News):
“Jerry never talks to anybody during the game,” says Shy. “He is so focused. But he started asking, ‘Where’s Witten?’ I was looking over his should and I could see his glasses were completely smudged. I said, ‘Seriously, Jerry? Let me see your glasses.’ I actually had an eyeglass cloth in my pocket.”
And from that, Jerry Jones will probably pocket another million dollars. And I can see even fans of the Giants, Eagles and Redskins — the Cowboys’ divisional rivals — purchasing some Jerry Wipes, although I suspect those fans would use the product for, shall we say, as a means to take care of more sanitary-based needs, if you know what I mean.
Let’s just hope Colts owner Jim Irsay doesn’t respond in kind and come up with a product related to the zinger he made at Jones’ expense. That wouldn’t be good for anybody.
