Five high school football players kicked off team for hiring prostitutes
If you’ve heard the story once, you’ve heard it a thousand times: players on a high school football team, on the road and riding high after a big win, decide it would be a great idea to hire some prostitutes from a call service and sneak them into their hotel rooms for some pay-for-play hanky panky.
What’s that? You’ve never heard that story? Well, that’s probably a good thing.
Unfortunately, a high school in Maryland is dealing with the fallout of a road trip to North Carolina gone horribly, horribly wrong that resulted in five football players being removed from the team after becoming involved with some hookers on a chaperoned trip.
Following a season-opening win against Hillside (N.C.), members of the No. 7-ranked DeMatha Catholic High School (Md.) Stags football team allegedly hired prostitutes from a website and at least some of them engaged in sexual activity with hookers in their hotel room. The players utilized a website to call and hire the prostitutes and the ladies of the night reportedly were sneaked into the players’ hotel room at 5:00 a.m., well after the 1:30 a.m. bed check and shortly after a 4:00 a.m. hallway check.
According to a report in The Washington Post, two players withdrew from the school this week, two others have been recommended for expulsion and one faces a disciplinary hearing Friday. DeMatha head coach Elijah Brooks said he’s “not able to” comment at this time, adding, “There are still kids that have to go through the disciplinary hearing” and that he “just can’t comment.”
Additional comments from DeMatha principal Dan McMahon:
“As you know any disciplinary action that takes place at the school, I can’t legally or morally talk about discipline of any students. If people break team rules, there are team sanctions, and if people break school rules, there are school sanctions.
“I can’t comment on anything except to say when people are on field trips they are exceptionally chaperoned. On this trip there was full coverage by supervisors and we are extremely pleased with the way we monitor kids and keep everybody safe.”
Eighteen adults were apparently acting as chaperones on trip, leaving one parent wondering how players were able to sneak hookers into their room.
“My concern is where were the coaches and chaperones and how did this happen? These are boys, you should have been on them, knocking on their doors. . . .Why are there coaches at this hotel and kids are able to sneak three prostitutes in at 5 a.m.?”
Good question. But you know how Stags can be. Or something.
