Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo joins GQ as fashion intern (photos)
In a move announced by GQ’s editor-in-chief Jim Nelson and effective Thursday, Boston Celtics superstar point guard Rajon Rondo has joined the magazine as a fashion intern for the duration of New York Fashion Week.
According to a GQ press release, Rondo will be working closely with Jim Moore, the magazine’s creative director, and the Celtics star will be attending fashion shows alongside GQ editors and writing about his experiences at GQ.com.
Said Rondo about his new gig:
“I love the set-up so far and I’m having fun. I’m still a rookie at this. I’m humble. Anything GQ needs me to do—getting coffee—I’ll do. In my position, I haven’t done things like this in my entire life. It’s fun doing what I do, but it’s nice getting the flipside of that 9 to 5.”
Rondo never appeared to be among the many NBA stars who was really into fashion, but his new internship seems to indicate otherwise.
At least he’ll have some real-world experience to fall back on if this whole NBA things doesn’t pan out for him.
And look, he even has his own desk:
Sweet. Although I suspect he will not be spending too much time sitting at his desk. Coffee cups don’t fill themselves, lowly intern!
