Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks crushes pitch, hits massive 462-foot home run (video)
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks is in the throes of a tremendously subpar season, and that’s putting it mildly. Weeks is batting a paltry .200 and has only nine home runs after hitting 29 and 20 respectively in the previous two seasons.
But for one brief moment on Tuesday night, all of his struggles were quickly forgotten, when Weeks absolutely uncorked on a fat pitch from St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Joe Kelly, demolishing the weak offering for the go-ahead run during the Brew Crew’s 3-2 win in front of the home fans at Miller Park. According to Hit Tracker Online, the bomb traveled an estimated 462 feet, one of the longest round-trippers in the history of Milwaukee’s ballpark.
And the best part? Bernie Brewer really seemed to enjoy his customary and celebratory trip down the slide, although he doesn’t slide into a beer mug like he used to do back at the old County Stadium. It just doesn’t feel the same, you know what I mean?
