New Jersey Devils star Zach Parise on Tebowmania: ‘I don’t get it’
New Jersey Devils captain (for now) Zach Parise, finding himself in the eye of the storm of full-on Tebowmania given that Tim Tebow is now a member of the New York Jets, an NFL team that just so happens to play its home games in the Garden State as Parise does, recently expressed his bewilderment at the entire phenomenon, especially the fanfare and hullabaloo surrounding the quarterback’s press conference earlier this week.
Speaking to Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice (by way of Pro Hockey Talk), here’s what the star winger and impending free agent had to say about the circus that is Tebowmania:
“I don’t care for it,” Parise said. “Why is a backup quarterback having a press conference?”
More than 200 media members attended Tebow’s introductory news conference Monday at the Jets’ practice facility in Florham Park.
“That doesn’t make sense to me,” Parise said.
Ha. Advantage Parise. Great job at putting the frenzy in its much-needed, proper perspective. Seems like the entire dog-and-pony show that occurred on Monday was a bit over-the-top when it’s put that way, doesn’t it?
