(Video) Just Your Typical Par-3…From Sixteen Stories Up On A Chicago Skyscraper
Cool. As part of a charity gimmick which ultimately raised $100,000 for the Illinois PGA Foundation and Ronald McDonald House charities, the PGA of America and the Ryder Cup Magnificent Moments campaign teamed up and what resulted was 2012 Ryder Cup captains Davis Love III and Jose Maria Olazabal trying to hit tee shots from the 16th floor terrace of the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago onto a green located on a barge 220-yards out…and quite a bit the way down as well.
Both golfers got three cracks at it and according to Devil Ball Golf, was modeled after the 17th hole at Medinah Country Club in Bloomingdale Township, Illinois, the site of the 2012 Ryder Cup. Only one shot from each golfer is shown in the video and it appears while both landed their shots on the makeshift, floating green, Love seemed to have the best luck, initially sticking his shot close to the pin…only to have it roll off the backside into the water. I guess he’ll have to take a drop. Somewhere.
