Tiger Woods Update: Still Injured, Grew A Rockin’ Beard
Like many men who are experiencing a bad run of luck and find themselves not exactly in the spot they envisioned themselves, Tiger Woods has begun to show signs that the day-to-day aspects of grooming are becoming too much a burden to bear on a regular basis, so he put down the Gillette and grew out a full beard. And to be perfectly honest, it’s a nice look. Very mature, stately, regal even. No word on whether there was a stain on his shirt from the meatball sub he ate late last night.
More information gleaned from the presser: he’s still injured and dealing with his bum knee and out-of-whack Achilles’. Straight from the Tiger’s mouth from a press conference earlier today. (via The Daily Mail, who broke up his comments into nifty little easy-to-digest paragraphs):
“I will come back when I’m 100 per cent. I don’t know when that’s going to be.
“I’m just playing it by ear right now. I’ve not hit any balls yet. I want to be out there playing, but I’m not ready yet.”
The 35-year-old continued: “It was a borderline call to play The Players. I wasn’t quite 100 per cent and I hurt myself there.
“There’s not going to be a 50-50 call this time. I would go over there (to The Open) to show. I would go to win the tournament.
“I need to get my body ready where I can practice and play and apply it. But I’m 35, I’m not 65 – I’ve still got some years ahead of me and I feel my best years are still ahead of me. Tom Watson nearly won The Open at 59.”
So, there you have it. Woods will not be back until he’s 100% completely healed and fully recovered. At least physically. Fully recovered mentally? Who knows if that’s ever going to happen. But perhaps the most important thing of all? His beard: so not weird. In fact, it’s killer.
