Swiss Daredevil To Fly Through Grand Canyon With Jet-Powered Wingsuit
On Friday, Yves Rossy, a Swiss daredevil and former fighter pilot, will attempt to make his dream of flying through the Grand Canyon a reality when he attempts to accomplish the stunt with the aid of his trust jet-propelled wingsuit pictured above.
Via an AP Report in the Toronto Star:
His team said Wednesday that the 51-year-old daredevil will jump from a helicopter near Eagle Point and fly westward along the rim of the canyon.
Rossy has previously flown his custom-made wingsuit over the Swiss Alps and across the English Channel.
He also tried but failed to cross the Strait of Gibraltar from Morocco to Spain.
I don’t know, man. Sounds pretty risky, what with the unpredictability of the mechanics of a jet-propelled wingsuit and all the jagged rocks jutting out of the Grand Canyon. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. And for some reason or another, said stunt sounds vaguely familiar, like I have seen it somewhere before, and for some reason, I suspect it stems from something I saw during my youth…
Yep, that’s the ticket. Hopefully, this Rossy fellow learned a thing or two from Looney Tunes and Wile E. Coyote and did not purchase his wingsuit through Acme…
Ouch.
But hey, at least this guy’s wingsuit is jet-powered…
Yeah, that’s an even uglier outcome. Maybe.
