Ana Ivanovic Docked Game During Match For Taking Too Long To Poop Or Something
No seriously. It’s true. During Ivanovic’s match against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova at the Generali Ladies tournament, the judge docked her four points – or one game – for taking too long to return to the court after requesting a bathroom break.
From an AP report (via SI):
Ivanovic asked for a bathroom break after the opening game of the match on Thursday. The umpire gave her four penalty points – effectively a whole game – upon her return for taking too much time.
The chair umpire said she was docked one point for every 20 seconds she went over the time limit.
Ivanovic blamed it on “a miscommunication,” saying she thought she had been allowed to leave the court.
Boy, one point for every 20 seconds she went over the time limit? If that were me and I had a cup of coffee and the sports page, I would have lost a five set match before even playing a point, for goodness sakes.
In the end, Ivanovic overcame her poddy break snafu and defeated Strycova 6-3, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals. I guess all’s well that ends well. Yeah, that’s two “end” references in a story about possible poop-related penalties in one paragraph. Commitment to excellence and all that.
Note: to get the photo above loaded with poopuendo, out of your mind, feast your eyes upon the below images. Also, the lovely Miss Ivanovic has been featured at the Sportress many times, most notably here and here.
There. Much better. I guess we will make it through the unpleasant experience of thinking about Ana Ivanovic using the facilities. On second thought, is it really that bad of an image? Something to think about, I guess.
