After Getting Pistol-Whipped, It’s Safe To Say Jaguars’ WR Kassim Osgood Had A Rough Night

Jacksonville Jaguars wide reciever Karim Osgood should count himself as incredibly fortunate to escape with only minor scrapes and bruises after a jealous ex-boyfriend came upon the Jags’ special teams player hanging out with 19-year-old Mackenzie Rae Putnal. After being pistol-whipped, Osgood had to throw himself out of a second-story window to escape Julian Armond Bartletto’s vicious attack, during which Bartletto pointed a gun at his ex-girlfriend’s head and said, “What did that football player say to his girlfriend, it’s a good day to die.”

Bartletto was later arrested on charges of aggravated battery, false imprisonment, armed robbery, burglary and violation of an injunction and was booked into Duval County Jail, where the alleged madman will sit for the time being, as he is ineligible for bail.

A description of the disturbing scene, via The Florida Times-Union:

Mackenzie Rae Putnal and Osgood, 30, were watching television in a second-floor game room just before 11:15 p.m. when a man walked in with his face covered with a plastic bag and pointed a gun at them. Exclaiming that “I can’t believe you’re with that guy,” he pulled Putnal around the room by her hair and hit her with gun and fists before hitting Osgood in the head with the weapon too, the arrest report said.

The gunman took the woman’s cell phone and tackled her when she tried to flee, holding the gun to her head as well as Osgood’s and also hitting her dog several times. When he ordered the couple to sit on the floor, Putnal escaped down a hall and leaped over the balcony to the floor below, the report said.

The gunman ran after her, so Osgood jammed a chair under the game room door handle and jumped out a window to the lawn below, running to a neighbor’s house to call police. Meanwhile, Bartletto and Putnal confronted each other downstairs with guns. The woman targeted him with her laser sight before both shot at each other and missed.

Sweet Jesus. That’s some gnarly stuff right there. I can’t even bring myself to make a joke about the fact that Osgood also is forced to suffer by playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Wait. I guess I just did. Sorry about that. Thankfully, the guy is alright and can continue his career playing for Jack Del Rio for the time being.
