Soccer Player Dons Wig And Channels Inner Lady Gaga During Goal Celebration

How many times have we seen this scenario play out? Brazilian scores goal for Finnish third-tier club soccer team, and while Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” is playing over the speakers, said Brazilian player runs to the sideline, puts on a blond wig and is joined by two other Brazilians in some kind of ill-conceived homage to the pop songstress? If I have seen it once, I have seen it a thousand times.

Actually, if it weren’t for the description, I would have been hard-pressed to have even noticed that Bruno Gomes, Alysson and Marcelo Matrone from club team Hangö IK were even doing a poorly-scripted and awfully-realized tribute to Lady Gaga, as “Bad Romance” is barely audible in the video. But I suppose it is the subtlety that made this so impressive. Or lame. One of the two for sure. I mean, Lady Gaga is great and all, but that doesn’t mean doing an impersonation of her in public is appropriate. If you want to crank up the Gaga and dance away in the privacy of your own home with the shades drawn and your wiener tucked between your legs, that’s one thing, but on the pitch? That’s bush league.
