Zing! Osama Bin Laden-Related Humor Shows England’s World Cup Team What’s What
Comedy Lesson #1: If you are searching for some way to get in a nasty dig on something or someone but still want it to be embellished with some component of offbeat, scatological humor – you know, for the kids – there are few better ways of going about it than incorporating a reference to a coldblooded orchestrator of mass murder who happens to be hated and feared by most of the free world.
Obviously, Cape Town’s Cape Times newspaper understands these essential, fundamental tenets of comedy as clearly evidenced by the below dig on England’s miserable performance at the World Cup. Via Grahame L. Jones and The Fabulous Forum:
“Osama bin Laden has just released a new TV message to prove he is alive. He said England’s performance was completely appalling. British intelligence have dismissed the claim, saying the message could have been recorded any time in the past 44 years.”
Very Leno-esque, if I do say so myself. And in light of my analysis, and I know I go to this bit probably a little too often, this is the only thing I would like to add:
