All He Needed Was Some Steroids: Injured Jason Giambi Released By A’s
The Oakland Athletics have released former-good-baseball-player-while-he-was-allowed-to-take-performance-enhancing-drugs Jason Giambi.
A five-time AL All-Star, Giambi was batting just .193 — lowest in the majors when he went on the DL. He has 11 home runs and 40 RBI in 83 games this season. When he was placed on the DL, general manager Billy Beane and manager Bob Geren said a break might help him.
It was a good run. Well, not really. It probably wasn’t the kind of homecoming Giambi he envisioned when he returned to the team he spent his first seven Major League seasons.
When things like this happen, you always have to look for the silver lining, and you know what? There is one in Giambi’s release as well: he’ll now be able to take that job as a Rick’s Cabaret bouncer. Not a bad gig if you can get it.
