Yao Ming Should Probably Consult Fellow Asian Import Ichiro Suzuki Before Making Any Rash Decisions
Amid swirling rumors that the Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in attempting to somehow acquire Yao Ming from the Houston Rockets, the 7’6″ Chinese center maintains that it is all “unknown.” The speculation is that the Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in Yao not only for his athletic ability, but also for his marketability, as a group of Chinese investors recently signed on as co-0wners of the Cavaliers. Trying not to get caught up in any controversy, Yao did his best to make it a non-story:
“This is all an unknown,” Yao said in the interview, a transcript of which was posted online Friday.
“I’ve already been with Houston for such a long time, I still have much affection for this team,” he said. “Moreover, this past season we were very successful, and that let me see some hope.”
Very dedicated to the Rockets, Yao is (who am I, Yoda?). You have to admire that quality in him. Nevertheless, before Yao jumps ship and heads to Cleveland, it may be wise to consult Ichiro Suzuki, who had this to say about Cleveland in 2007:
“To tell the truth, I’m not excited to go to Cleveland, but we have to. If I ever saw myself saying I’m excited going to Cleveland, I’d punch myself in the face, because I’m lying.”
Cleveland, you got served by Ichiro – proababy wrapped in some makizushi, I’d reckon.
