Be Sure You Catch What’s On HBO Tonight At 9:00 P.M. Eastern

For those of you who aren’t aware by now, HBO has something pretty special on tonight. That’s right, on HBO2 The Bucket List is on at 9:00 Eastern Standard Time. If you haven’t seen it, watch the film – it is a hoot!

Obviously, I’m joking. Tonight, on the premiere episode of Joe Buck Live, Brett Favre will make an appearance and (maybe) speak publicly for the first time regarding his probable unretirement and signing with the Minnesota Vikings. But assuming that he will actually talk about it could be our first mistake. Evidently, Buck landed Favre as a guest in April, at least according to an interview Buck did with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Via Access Vikings, the Minneapolis Star Tribune blog:

“I called [Favre] in early April and locked him in, way before the Minnesota stuff popped up,” Buck told Dan Caesar of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Sunday night. “Thought he would be the perfect guy to talk about celebrity and life as a Packer legend in a small town like Green Bay. Now the timing makes him the most relevant guest we could have this side of [Iranian president Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad.”

Wow! Dropping references to the Iranian President? During the election controversy? Timely and hilarious! If that’s the sort of top-notch topical humor Joe Buck has in store for us, I might have to watch the show on the toilet lest I shit and piss my pants from laughing so hard.

To be honest, what I expect to occur tonight is Favre will dance around the subject, say that he’s retired “at this time” and Favre and Buck will metaphorically blow each other as they participate in a roundtable Mutual Admiration Society.

You know, on second thought, maybe I will watch The Bucket List. That’s the one with Martin Lawrence in it, right?
