Minnesota Vikings Make Minor Threat To Brett Favre
Originally reported by ESPN, the Minnesota Vikings and Brad Childress have now imposed a deadline on Brett Favre to make a decision in an attempt to reach some sort of resolution of the clusterfuck that this situation has become. A deadline of this week is being reported, you won’t hear anyone associated with the Vikings actually being quoted on this because, well, then the Vikings wouldn’t be able to sign Favre in August like everyone with half a brain already knows they will without looking like they caved into Favre’s demands.
We all know that Favre wants no part in minicamps, OTAs, etc. How about we just go on with our lives, let Favre’s arm heal after the surgery he said he reportedly wasn’t going to have performed and rejoin the drama when Favre reports to training camp.
Because this threat is just that, a threat, albeit an empty one. Even if the Vikings give him a deadline and the time passes, if Favre came knocking in August and his arm was healthy enough to play, there’s no way in hell Minnesota isn’t signing him. It reminds of when you were a kid and your parents would threaten you with things like, “if you don’t do as I say, you can kiss your Nintendo goodbye.” We knew and they knew there was no way they were going to be willing to go through with it and weather the week upon week of behavioral shitstorms that would surely ensue. Sure, it got you to do what they wanted, but everyone knew the score.
It doesn’t matter what anyone invovled says anymore. Favre had the surgery because he wants to play, the Vikings want him and that’s all there is to it.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some paint drying that needs my constant attention.
