If He Truly Meant This, I’ll Gladly Take Some Of What Boomer Esiason Is Smoking
According to an article on the website of The Cincinnati Enquirer, former Cincinnati Bengals great Boomer Esiason “thinks there’s no reason why the Bengals can’t be this year’s Arizona Cardinals.”
“With the three wide receivers they have and the quarterback they have, they can be as exciting as the Cardinals offensively if they get things rolling right.”
Then, perhaps realizing what he just said, Boomer does his very best to backpedal from that opinion. Some of Esiason’s “damage control” quotes from an interview done at his “Boomer’s Big Bang” charity event last week:
“They have to get off to a good start because when you have wacky players, those wacky players get really wacky when you start losing.”
“I think there are players that are mentally strong on this team, the coaching staff is mentally strong, but I think the first sign of negativity there are players on this team that will just completely jump out of the foxhole.”
You heard it from Boomer Esiason’s mouth first: if the Bengals can win a bunch of games at the beginning of the season and none of their players do anything “wacky”, this team just might maybe accomplish something by chance. Perhaps. I guess we’ll have to see.
It’s not like the Bengals have any players on their team that would ever dream of doing anything goofy. Nope. No chance.
