Klay Thomson, Dirk Nowitzki sure have some interesting fans (pics)
Most people are well aware that the term “fan” is short for “fanatic,” with the former obviously having a less ominous connotation than the latter. One needn’t look any further to establish that occasionally the words are interchangeable in light of two separate fan-related experiences for Klay Thompson and Dirk Nowitzki.
First, Thompson recently participated in an autograph session where fans evidently could bring in items for the Golden State Warriors sharpshooter to sign. So, what did one fan bring in?
A toaster. Granted, it was a Warriors-themed toaster, but still.
Get a look at the look of abject confusion on Thompson’s face as he inspects and ultimately signs the bizarre autograph item.

Classic. In a”Twilight Zone” kind of way.
And let’s move on to the crazy thing that happened recently to Dirk Nowitzki.
The Dallas Mavericks superstar recently took to social media to document the interesting gift he received from a fan. And what, pray tell, did Nowitzki receive in the mail?
A potato bearing his image. Yep, just a regular old potato with his likeness on it.
Whoever sent me this POTATO!!!! Much appreciated…. pic.twitter.com/fVaqRvvgTn

Huh. Nowitzki s going to need every one of those Bud Lights he was gifted for scoring his 30,000th career point last week to help process that bizarre gift. Interestingly, it’s entirely possible the potato wasn’t sent from a random fan but instead from a company that pitched a strange potato business to Mavericks owner Mark Cuban on “Shark Tank.”
Either way, weird.
