Jim Harbaugh concerned over reported White House plan to defund LSC
Jim Harbaugh has never shied away from utilizing his bully pulpit as Michigan Wolverines head football coach to express opinions related to matters outside of football. But Harbaugh on Tuesday morning threw himself into a highly charged political fray by tweeting his concerns over the White House’s reported plan to defund the LSC.
I hope reports that White House trying to defund Legal Services Corp aren't true. LSC is CRUCIAL to making justice system fair. #LSCmatters

The LSC, or Legal Services Corporation, provides legal services to lower-income Americans. In fact, it is the nation’s largest funder of such programs.
Harbaugh actually was named a member of the LSC’s “Leaders Council” last year, which sought to highlight the “current crisis in legal aid.”
Per the LSC’s official website, the organization “promotes equal access to justice and provides grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans. LSC distributes more than 90% of its funding to 133 independent nonprofit legal aid programs with more than 800 offices.”
Given his role within the LSC, it’s hardly surprising Harbaugh has responded to recent reports concerning how the White House’s purported budget proposal would eliminate the organization. But that doesn’t mean Harbaugh shouldn’t expect his comments to draw the ire of those who do not share his political view on this particular issue.
