Ronda Rousey blasts Floyd Mayweather, suggests he’s illiterate
The war of words between Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather may go on in perpetuity of the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion has anything to say about it.
After the boxing champ appeared to make an effort to settle their long-running beef last month, Rousey came out firing when confronted by a TMZ camera crew while out walking her dog, seizing the opportunity to blast Mayweather while denigrating his perceived intelligence.
“[Floyd] said ‘You make $300 million a night, then you can give me a call’ … and I actually did the math and given the numbers of my last fight, I’m actually the highest paid UFC fighter and I’m a woman,” she argued. “I think I actually make 2-3 times more than he does per second … so when he learns to read and write, he can text me.”
The feud between Rousey and Mayweather goes back some time, but the UFC champ’s comeback stems from the boxer’s comments a few weeks back when he said, “I’ve yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes. When she can do that, then call me.” Although it warrants pointing out that Mayweather was also complimentary of Rousey in the same interview.
This of course followed Rousey ripping Mayweather during her acceptance speech in July at the ESPYs following her “Best Fighter” win by bringing up his past with domestic violence.
“I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once,” she said at the ESPYs. “I’d like to see him pretend to not know who I am now.”
It wasn’t the first time Rousey brought up Mayweather’s history with domestic violence, either. When asked in May if she would ever consider fighting Mayweather, she delivered the following insult.
“Well, I will never say that I can’t beat anyone,” she replied to the arguably ridiculous inquiry. “I don’t think that me and him would ever fight, unless we ended up dating.”
Suffice to say, despite Mayweather’s halfhearted efforts to bury the hatchet, Rousey isn’t having any of it.
