Claudia Romani gives up modeling to pursue career as pro soccer referee (pics)

Claudia Romani, a 32-year-old Italian model, may be giving up her original career to take on the world of soccer after passing an exam that allows her to become a professional referee.

Romani now is qualified to referee matches in Serie A and Serie B, something that makes her incredibly happy.

“Running around on the pitch with all those players and calling the shots is just an irresistible opportunity,” she said, per a Daily Mail report.

A woman has never refereed a Serie A match, but if Romani somehow can make it to the big leagues, something tells me more men in the stands will be focused upon her than the action on the pitch.

Between Romani becoming qualified to become a professional referee and Serbian sports reporter Katarina Sreckovic, who was deemed too attractive to cover the Red Star Belgrade soccer club, the masculine world of European football certainly is taking on an influx of femininity, although perhaps not in the manner some would hope.
