Indiana Pacers fans have begun showing up in the entry pavilion of Bankers Life Fieldhouse to sign a very long banner to pass along best wishes to Paul George as he recovers from a horrific injury.
George suffered an open tibia-fibula fracture in his right leg during a U.S. men’s national team scrimmage last Friday in Las Vegas when his leg smashed into the bottom of the backboard stanchion while contesting a layup. It was a gruesome injury and a disturbing scene.
Fans have been showing up by the dozens to sign the banner. It will be available for signature in the arena’s entry pavilion until the Indiana Fever game on Friday, Aug. 8 after which it will be hung up at the Fieldhouse.

While it won’t help George’s leg heal any faster, the thoughtful gesture by the fans who do show up to sign the banner likely will mean a lot to the Pacers star as he embarks on a lengthy and grueling recovery.
