Albert Pujols has had his fill of Manny Machado’s slick fielding prowess (vids)

Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has had a month’s worth — if not more — of jaw-dropping fielding plays in the span of only two games against the Los Angeles Angels this week … three to be exact.

And on each amazing demonstration of unbelievably slick fielding prowess while manning the hot corner, the victim of Machado’s impressive defensive play was Angels slugger Albert Pujols.

The play that will leave fans shaking their heads in amazement was the final play in Machado’s Pujols-frustrating trifecta. During the 11th inning of Thursday night’s tilt at Camden Yards with a scoreless tie, Pujols blasted a shot down the third base line.

A diving effort resulted in Machado somehow ensnaring the ball in the top of his glove before it ended up in the left field corner for a sure double, even for the not-so-fleet of foot Pujols.

Unfortunately for Pujols and the Angels, not only did Machado prevent an extra-base hit, he somehow was able to fire a rocket throw across the diamond as he momentum took him deep into foul territory to retire the Angels slugger.

This all came after his defensive fireworks earlier in the game when the Orioles third baseman started off a double play by making yet another slick fielding play on another batted ball from Pujols.

And those two plays came on the heels of Machado gunning down Pujols at first during Wednesday night’s game when he showed off his crazy range while retiring Pujols at first from — again — way deep into foul territory.

In the end, an RBI single by you guessed it, Albert Pujols, in the 13th inning proved to be the decisive run as the Angles sneaked out of Baltimore with a 1-0 win to avoid the series sweep.
