When the reports began swirling that LeBron James was expected to announce his ultimate free agency destination in a toned-down “Decision 2: Electric Boogaloo” sooner rather than later, the neighborhood in Bath Township where he and his family resides was overrun by fans, press and paparazzi, creating a very hectic, uncomfortable and  annoying environment for the James’ neighbors.

While his neighbors — at least those who are Cleveland Cavaliers fans — were ultimately happy that the hometown hero was “coming home,” LeBron nevertheless recognized the inconvenience caused by the hype and the frenetic and chaotic scene that ensued in the neighborhood.

In an attempt to make amends for it all, James and his family sent residents in the neighborhood an extra special gift to thank them all for their patience and understanding: Cupcakes.

The cupcakes care package were prepared by Baker Blvd. Decadent Cupcakes and were sent on behalf of the LeBron James Family Foundation.

The scrumptious twelve-pack of sweets featured basketball-themed flavors as well: Six “Just A Kid From Akron Cherry Cola” cupcakes and six “Homecourt Chocolate Chunk” cupcakes.

Will Smith — presumably not the actor — lives by James and despite the commotion and inconvenience to the neighborhood, appeared appreciative of the gesture of gratitude, writing in an email to FOX Sports Ohio: “We had no face to face interaction with Lebron, but nonetheless, it was an extremely kind gesture,” Smith stated.

Smith also thanked James in a tweet (above), where he wrote, “S/o to @KingJames for sending everyone in our neighborhood cupcakes for all the Decision 2.0 traffic. What a guy.”

Not only did James send some sweets, along with the cupcakes was a thank you note.

It read:

“Dear Friend, We know things have been hectic in our neighborhood these past few weeks and we are sorry for the chaos. We are so thankful to live in this wonderful community and we are so blessed to have understanding neighbors like you.”

A pretty classy move by James on this one. He should thank whichever member of his team of advisers that came up with it.
