Peyton Manning’s rendition of ‘Folsom Prison Blues’ predictably awkward (video)

Peyton Manning clearly has a good sense of humor and the capability to laugh at himself, because if the didn’t, there is no way the Denver Broncos quarterback would agree to perform the Johnny Cash classic,”Folsom County Blues,” in consecutive years at an annual charity event.

The performance occurred in Indianapolis over the weekend at this year’s edition of the Celebration of Caring charity event that benefits the city’s Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent.

Manning joined country music singer Jake Owen onstage during the festivities and proceeded to, uh, sing the Cash classic with Owen and his bandmates providing the musical accompaniment.

Manning deserves all the credit in the world for his effort — after all, it was for charity — but he would be best served to not sing in public any more often than absolutely necessary.

But Manning certainly appears to be a good sport about his shortcomings as a singer, as For the Win notes he performed the exact same song at last year’s gala alongside Luke Bryan:

Nope, Manning’s singing did not improve over the past year. And that’s a somewhat sad commentary on his (lack of ) vocal skills.
