Bubba Watson on fire at Masters, drains sick birdie putt with absurd break (GIF)
Bubba Watson quickly separated himself from the field during the second round of the Masters on Friday, rattling off five consecutive birdies on the back nine, including the above lengthy bender for birdie on the 14th hole.
Bubba birdied 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and had a par on the 17th hole before finally giving one back to the field with a bogey-5 on eighteen.
Watson finished with a 4-under 68, at 7-under, and holds a three-stroke lead over John Senden (4-under), who put up a nifty 68 on Friday. Next up on the leaderboard are Thomas Bjorn, Jonas Blixt, Adam Scott and Jordan Spieth in a four-way tie for third at 3-under.
Either way, it may be a moot point if Bubba keeps putting like he did on the 14th hole and sticks shots like he made on the par-3 16th when he somehow reached the difficult back-pin placement and nearly funneled his tee shot damn near into the hole before the ball drifted by a few feet, setting Bubba up for a relatively easy, mostly uphill birdie putt. But it was his reaction to the shot that makes Bubba so distinctly, well, Bubba (via SB Nation):
How did that iron taste, Mr. Watson? Pretty damn good right now I’d imagine. Gotta love the Bubba.
