Was Carlos Gomez trolling Braves with super-speedy home run trot? (video)
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez it a solo homer in the bottom of the 1st inning during the team’s game against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. To say that Gomez sped around the bases with a purpose may be an understatement.
What lends Gomez’s speedy home run trot the appearance of some expertly executed trolling is an ugly incident that occurred last season between the Braves and Brewers, again related to Gomez’s trip around the bases following a round-tripper.
On that occasion, which occurred late last season, the Braves, especially catcher Brian McCann, took offense to Gomez taking his sweet ass time rounding the bases, all the while jawing at first baseman Freddie Freeman and pitcher Paul Maholm.
McCann confronted Gomez as he reached home plate, igniting a brawl that resulted in three players getting ejected.
So, to answer the question posed above: Was Carlos Gomez trolling Braves with super-speedy home run trot? Yes, yes he was.
