Seattle Seahawks’ ’12th Fan’ jerseys up to No. 10 in overall jersey sales

Seattle Sehawks jerseys paying tribute to the legendary “12th Man” moniker the team’s fan base goes by — No. 12 with the name “FAN” emblazoned upon the back — were the tenth-best-selling jersey from April 1, 2013, through Feb. 28, 2014 at NFLShop.com, according to an ESPN.com report.

That’s nuts. I haven’t seen this big of a ridiculous craze over a gimmicky jersey since “HE HATE ME.”

The jersey was No. 3 for February, surpassed in total sales at the league’s official online store in the month by only the jerseys of Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, the two signal-callers who competed in Super Bowl XLVIII.

According to an ESPN.com report, the Seawhawks rank No. 1 overall with only month remaining in the league’s fiscal year, with Wilson (No. 1), running back Marshawn Lynch (No. 5) and cornerback Richard Sherman (No. 6) are among the best-selling jerseys for the fiscal year.

Everything’s coming up Seahawks, although one has to wonder what the parents of Cydnee Leigh 12th Mann will decide to do when the time comes to get her first jersey. Should it be “12th Mann” on the back, the No. 12 with the name “MANN” on the back, or should they go with a tribute to the bit that precipitated their baby-naming tribute to the “12th Man”? Tough call. Man.
