The Baltimore Orioles hold the team’s spring training in the lovely town of Sarasota, Fla. Ballgames are played at Ed Smith Stadium. Hardball Talk’s Craig Calcaterra was touring the facility and grounds recently and came across the above rather curious sign which instructs patrons at the ballpark from drinking the water out of the urinals and toilets.

Not because doing so wouldn’t be fine under normal circumstances. You see, as part an effort to “Go Green,” the sign informs fans that the ballpark utilizes “reclaimed water” to flush the toilets and urinals.

In parentheses under the notification, it is advised to not drink the water. From the toilet. Or urinal.

If it had been regular old sparkling clean water in the toilet or urinal an individual was relieving himself or herself in or on, of course have at it. Preferably before one deposits one’s waste into the receptacle. But reclaimed water? Not a good idea ever. Before or afterward.
