Bubba Watson nearly hits wife with errant shot at Accenture Match Play Championship (video)
Bubba Watson hit a terrible second shot on the par-5 11th during his second round match against the Jonas Blixt at the Accenture Match Play Championship on Thursday. Attempting to put it on the green for an eagle putt, Bubba cooked it a bit, leaving the ball in the rough after over-drawing it.
As the ball bounced and bounded up to and under the spectator ropes, none other than Bubba’s wife, Angie, was directly in the path of the shanked shot, although the ball chased by Watson’s better half, missing her entirely.
Granted, the ball, had it hit her, would have done little damage given it was rolling on the ground and slowing down to an almost complete stop once it reached her vicinity. But even so, had it hit her? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Bubba would have been advised to avoid his wife entirely scoot off in one of his golf cart hovercrafts. Either way, he robably would have been on the hook for some flowers and a date night or something. Although compared to what happened to the spectator who fell into a jumping cholla due to Rory McIlroy’s errant shot from the other day, at least there was no harm, no foul and no thorny cacti as a result of Bubba’s botched shot.
Watson did ultimately defeat Blixt and will face Victor Dubuisson on Friday at Dove Mountain.
