After a three long months away from the hardwood, Los Angeles Lakers guard made his return to NBA action on Tuesday night in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
While the game ended in 109-99 loss to the T’Wolves — not to mention that the Lakers season is all but over at this point — Steve Nash must have been happy just to be back doing what he loves.
When Nash spoke with reporters Tuesday morning, he was sporting a pretty grizzled and gray beard (above) that belied the fact that he is only 39 years old. Sure, that’s up there in NBA years, but Nash nevertheless remains a young man for all intents and purposes outside of pro basketball.
Thankfully, Nash parted ways with the old man beard before tipoff, although he did reserve the facial hair atop his upper lip, leaving him with a phenomenal mustache that is a tremendous ode to the soup-strainers sported by the wacky cops in “Super Troopers.”
Nash posted the below image to his Instagram account later on Tuesday:
All right meow.
And if anyone wondered if Nash still has what it takes to orchestrate an NBA offense, look no further than this fantastic long-range alley-oop he delivered to Wesley Johnson.
Nash finished with seven points and nine assists in the losing effort. As alluded to above, the Lakers season probably is all but over, but it’s nice to see Nash back playing.
Sadly, as you can see from the video above, Nash shaved the mustache off before the game. Come on, man, grow that bad boy back! Hurry up meow.
