New Orleans Saints fans name son after Drew Brees (first name ‘Drew’ middle name ‘Brees’) (pic)
One of the biggest celebrity fans of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is Koda Kotb, she of the “Kathie Lee & Hoda” dynamic duo who host the third hour of NBC’s “Today” show. So, there I was watching Kathie Lee and Hoda chatting it up on Wednesday — as I do every day (who doesn’t, right?), when none other than Drew Brees, who presumably is in New York for some Super Bowl XLVIII-related reason, strolls on to the set to surprise Hoda.
I took a gander at Drew Brees’ Twitter account afterward to see if the quarterback mentioned his on-air encounter, which he did:

But even more interestingly, I also stumbled upon a far more interesting tidbit on his Twitter account: Some die-hard Saints fans have named their newborn son after Drew Brees, news of which Brees retweeted.
World, please meet Drew Brees Hasette.
The Hasette family have been trying to reach Brees to let him know of the somewhat peculiar honor they have bestowed upon the Saints quarterback, ever since Drew Brees Hasette was born on Jan. 15, which just so happens to be Drew Brees’ birthday (1/15/79) as well.

Cosmic forces may be at play here. To share the same name and have the same birthday? Weird stuff. No birthmark on the cheek, though. Well, the proud parents can’t have everything go their way, right?
It’s worth noting that this is the second news item about fans being inspired by something NFL-related when naming their child. On Tuesday, news surfaced that two Seattle Seahawks fans named their child “Cydnee Leigh 12th Mann.” When will the madness stop?
