Cuteness overload: Ricky Rubio bounces basketball with young Utah Jazz fan (video/GIF)

Minnesota Timberwolves precocious point guard Ricky Rubio took a bit of time during a game delay on Tuesday during the team’s game against the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena to play a little bounce pass catch with a young fan.

It didn’t take much for Rubio to find himself in a playful, free-spirited and carefree-enough mood to interact with the adorable little girl occurred late in the third quarter with the T’Wolves up by 23 points. After Utah’s mascot Jazz Bear brought the little girl out on the floor, Rubio took notice and bounced a pass to the youngster.

Too cute.

While Rubio may not be having the best of seasons thus far, but his enigmatic personality, star power and highlight reel-worthy assists still make him a draw. But on the court during games, Rubio appears to be pressing too much and trying to be too perfect, something Rubio alluded to a few weeks ago when he said he needs to “find himself.”

“It’s something I have been missing,” Rubio said, via the Star Tribune. “I just need to keep working, go out and have fun and win some games.”

“When things are not going the right way, the only thing I [blame] is myself,” Rubio is quoted as saying. “Sometimes I’m too hard [on myself]. I want to be perfect. I know it’s hard, but it’s the way I am.”

Still, Rubio’s defensive tenacity (leads the league in steals with 2.7/game) and deft skill pass the ball (sixth in the NBA with 8.2/game) has kept him on the court despite his offensive deficiencies, specifically his horrible shooting percentage (35%) that leaves him a liability on that end of the court.

Rubio also contributes 4.7 rebounds/game, a more-than-respectable average for a point guard. But he is also averaging 2.7 turnovers/game, something he will need to shore up — along with his jump shot — if Rubio wants to take himself — and the Timbrerwolves — to the next level.

But for now, we can all simply enjoy his unquestioned talent and winning personality, as evidenced by a chance interaction with a young fan.
