Nutty: Jameer Nelson sends game to overtime, does ‘Big Balls Dance’ to celebrate (video/GIF)
With the Orlando Magic down by a bucket with time running out in the fourth quarter, point guard Jameer Nelson made a clutch jumper to tie the score 101-101 and send the team’s game against the Chicago Bulls to overtime.
After draining the shot, Nelson made the egregious mistake of breaking out the “Big Balls Dance,” a move that has lightened the wallets of several NBA players in the past couple of seasons. Milwaukee Bucks guard Caron Butler was fined $15,000 in November for busting out the “Big Balls Dance,” and Nelson presumably will feel the sting of the NBA’s anti-giant testicles fine gestapo as well.
Despite Nelson’s big-time shot, the Magic fell to the Bulls by a score of 128-125 in a triple-overtime marathon, meaning Nelson, through the combination of fatigue (54:10 of game play, 31 points) and overstated and premature demonstration of ballsy enthusiasm, may have experienced some scrotal shrinkage shortly after his big balls bravado.
UPDATE: The fine has been handed down, as the NBA revealed that the league will relieve Nelson of $15,000 for the “Big Balls Dance.” The fine was announced by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations.
