Goal of the Year candidate: Anaheim Ducks winger Corey Perry scores from his knees (video)
Anaheim Ducks right winger Corey Perry put on a dazzling scoring demonstration during Monday night’s tilt against the New York Islanders at Honda Center when he scored from his knees during the team’s 5-2 win.
After deking Islanders defenseman Calvin de Haan, Perry appeared to be tripped and goes down but maintains his focus enough to roof the puck over goalie Anders Nilsson for a magnificent goal, easily one of the best so far in this young NHL season.
The goal came with only seconds remaining in the second period and gave the Ducks a 4-2 lead.
“I knew there were only seconds left,” Perry said, who extended his goals streak to a career-best six games. “The guy tripped me … I shot and found a way to squeak in.”
