George Brett warns autograph hound: ‘I’m going to shoot your (expletive) ass’ (video)
Hall of Famer and Kansas City Royals great George Brett was back in K.C. this week for an appearance at Kauffman Stadium where he was awarded the “2013 Outstanding Kansas Citian of the Year” by the Native Sons and Daughters of Greater Kansas City.
Upon his arrival at Kansas City International Airport, that’s when things took a turn for the worse. Brett was met by Brandon Farrens, an apparently repeat offender who has on several occasions hounded Brett for an autograph.
Brett, recognizing Farrens as the same guy who has asked for his autograph over and over and over, clearly couldn’t take this guy anymore or his repetitive persistence.
While signing yet another autograph for Farrens, Brett warned him that this would be the last time he put pen to paper for this particular autograph hound, saying, “If I ever see you (expletive) again, I’m going to shoot your (expletive) ass, do you understand?”
Of course, in this day and age, it shouldn’t be surprising that the entire exchange was caught on tape. By Farrens himself on his smartphone.
KCTV5 has the inside scoop on the situation, both what occurred during it and what transpired afterward:
Farrens then uses an expletive before pleading with Brett. But as Brett is walking away, Farrens calls him an “asshole.” Brett then appears to walk back Farrens. The 17-second video then abruptly ends.
Farrens said he has asked for Brett’s signature about 35 times and gotten it about 15 times. He does consider himself an autograph collector and admits that he has sold Brett’s autographs before.
“All he had to say was, ‘no’ or ignore me,” Farrens told KCTV5 over the phone early Thursday morning.
KCTV5 attempted to speak with Brett Wednesday night. Toby Cook, spokesman for the Royals, said Brett regrets using a poor choice of words and the tone of the encounter. He said Brett was tired from his flight.
However, Cook said Brett does not regret the message. Brett claims that the autograph hound has gotten numerous autographs from the Royals great, which the fan has then sold, and Brett is tired of the man’s relentless demands and behavior. Brett just wants the man to leave him alone.
Yeah, maybe, just maybe, continually asking Brett for his autograph “about 35 times” might be a little much, perhaps even landing this Farrens fellow’s behavior within realm of stalker territory.

Yamma hamma. Note to everyone: Don’t repeatedly ask George Brett for his autograph. He’ll remember who you are then will threaten to shoot you if you bother him again. Good to know.
