Billboard calling for firing of Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano seen in Tampa (pic)
An 0-6 record, a very public and ugly split with the team’s once-presumed longtime franchise quarterback Josh Freeman has created an ugly situation for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization, and the natives, the team’s fans, are getting restless.
The Bucs have lost 10 of 11 going back to last season and six straight at home. Not good.
To help articulate the exponentially increasing frustration with Greg Schiano by the masses, local radio station 102.5 FM The Bone has erected a billboard calling for the ouster of the beleaguered head coach.
At least it is assumed the radio station was behind the billboard, as its logo is also located on the sign, which has the words “FIRE SCHIANO” in all caps amid a fiery background. Because his Schiano’s seat is getting mighty hot, it stands to reason. Or the fire just looks really neat on the billboard.
Either way, it ain’t a good sign as the team heads into a prime time, Thursday night tilt with the division rival Carolina Panthers. Pair this with defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan snapping over fan criticism and it makes for an ugly scene in Buccaneer Land.
As far as Schiano is concerned, he attempted to approach the sinking ship with an even keel, saying, “It could only get worse.”
But that was before this billboard was erected. Sure, I suppose it could still get worse, but that doesn’t mean this is a good thing.
