Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard will be making a cameo appearance on an upcoming episode of a show called “Mighty Med”on the new Disney XD network. Howard’s display of his acting chops will air on an episode of the program, which is about two kids who take jobs at a hospital for superheroes (huh?), slated to premiere on Nov. 4. Mark your calendars.
In the episode, which was shot in August, Howard portrays “The Great Defender” (doesn’t have quite the same ring as Superman, but not bad), a superhero with a weakness that aligns well with a shortcoming in Howard’s on-court game and provides the reason why “The Great Defender” has to visit the so-called superhero hospital.
“My ‘Freeze Throws’ are really not good,” Howard told For the Win. “I have to work on them. It’s pretty close to who I am as a player, so it was a lot of fun.”
Well played, Disney XD. But as far as Disney channels are concerned, Disney Junior is where it’s at, what with the “Sofia the First,” “Little Einsteins” and “Doc McStuffins” and whatnot. In fact, I’d like to see Dwight Howard doll visit the Doc to fix his free throw problems and overall grating personality traits, but that’s another story altogether.
