Samantha Goudie, a 22-year-old student at the University of Iowa better known as “Vodka_samm” (her now infamous Twitter handle), enjoyed her 15 minutes of booze-soaked fame — if she remembers it at all — after Deadspin chronicled her inebriated exploits when she attempted to storm the field during an Iowa Hawkeyes game against Northern Illinois.
“Vodka Samm,” who was arrested, bragged on Twitter afterward that she “blew a .341 in jail,” also tweeting “Just went to jail” along with the hashtag “#yolo.” Yep.
Well, whether or not one would agree that Vodka Samm’s epic drinking problem merits an artistic representation, someone nevertheless has immortalized Miss Goudie in a painting.
Entitled, “An Intelligent Young Woman With a Bright Future,” it was created using acrylic paint, glitter glue, and clear polymer and painted on cardboard that measures 18″x15″.
The artist, Heidi Atkins McEchron, describes the piece thusly:
This painting depicts my interpretation of the adorably wasted University of Iowa student who stumbled her way into the Internet’s heart after she reportedly tried to get onto the field at Kinnick Stadium before being stopped by police and arrested. According to her Twitter bragging (and ICPD report), her blood alcohol content was .341, which I believe is just above comatose and therefore a feat worth celebrating. A perfect example of fleeting Internet celebrity (or at least ignominy), “.341 Grrl” is truly an inspiration to all current and former students of the UI. Own a piece of history today!
Wow. A breath
taking-alyzing work of art, that cannot be denied. It’s currently available for purchase on eBay for the very reasonable price of $146.50. But if you ask me, $341.00 would have been a much more apropos price.
Like it or not, the painting really does capture her at her best. Or her worst, depending on one’s perspective.
