Texas Tech bell-ringer guy is no jerk-off, but when he passionately rings that bell… (vid)

Oh man. Among the many traditions that Texas Tech University maintains, the long-practiced bell-ringing that occurs during Red Raiders home football games at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock may be the most awkwardly and unintentionally hilarious.

And on Thursday night, as the Red Raiders hosted theĀ  TCU Horned Frogs, ESPN cameras caught the bell-ringer guy doing what he does best.

Watch as this young man, who no doubt is honored by being chosen as the designated bell-ringer — and rightfully so — really bear down, stick his tongue out and give that dang bell one heckuva, um, ringing, I guess.

Although, uh, yeah. But even though this young man gave a good accounting of his bell-ringing abilities, he has a long way to go before he reaches this level of bell-ringing awkwardness:

Uh, yeah.

And then there was this guy, who almost takes the subtle perversity of the act to an entirely different level with his bell-ringing escapades during some recent game.

Ah yes, a tradition unlike any other.

And hey, Bell-Ringer Guy’s efforts did not go for naught as the Red Raiders upset the TCU Horned Frogs by a score of 20-10. Nothing jerky about that.
