49ers RB Anthony Dixon refers to Seahawks as ‘She-Hawks’ in tweet, deletes it
It’s not like the heavily anticipated Sunday night match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks needs any further hyping. From the evident animosity that exists between head coaches Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll that presumably runs all the way down to the 53rd man on the roster — not to mention the respective fan bases — the previously simmering in-division rivalry has rolled to a full boil over the past few seasons.
Still, Niners running back Anthony Dixon felt the need to add some fuel to the fire Thursday morning to what is expected to be an epic showdown between NFC West powerhouses by engaging in some trash talk on Twitter.
Yep, he called the Seahawks the “She-Hawks.” On Twitter, even. To his over 40,000 followers. And then he took it down.
Here’s a screen grab of the now-deleted tweet (via CSN Bay Area):
Hoo-wee! And lets throw a snappity-snap-snap in there as well. That’s some serious smack talk right there, especially from a player who didn’t see any action other than on special teams during last Sunday’s win over the Green Bay Packers. Although I suppose that shouldn’t preclude him from engaging in the dissemination of the oft-ballyhooed and overrated concept that is commonly called “bulletin board material.”
And yet, the sting of the smack talk is drastically lessened by the fact that he took down the tweet. Oh well. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, I guess.
But props is deserved for his “Boobie24Dixon” Twitter handle. Hah. Boobie.
