Baserunning derpness: Logan Morrison, Donovan Solano both slide into third (video)
The past two seasons for the Miami Marlins — the first two in the team’s garish new ballpark — have been as a whole unmitigated disasters. The gamble to hire Ozzie Guillen in an effort to drum up interest ended up not paying off with the volatile skipper being fired after a terrible 69-93 season.
The 2013 campaign under rookie manager Mike Redmond hasn’t gone much better for the National League East bottom feeders. Sitting at 49-82, the team simply is playing out the string, waiting for the summer-long nightmare to end.
Perhaps no single play summarizes the current state of the Miami Marlins than one that occurred during Wednesday’s game against the Washington Nationals when Logan Morrison and Donovan Solano slid into third base simultaneously.
Baserunning derpness, indeed.
Ladies and gentlemen, your 2013 Miami Marlins.
