Kobe Bryant tinkles the ivories, plays ‘Moonlight Sonata’ in new ad (vid)
Kobe Bryant is a man of many talents and a multitude of interests outside the world of basketball. As the Los Angeles Lakers superstar navigates his way through a grueling rehabilitation following surgery on his Achilles (oh, the scar — yowsers), Kobe has been keeping himself extremely busy, not only touring Southeast Asia (and making a grown-ass man cry as well as posting sultry bikini photos of his wife Vanessa), but also finding time to shoot a commercial for Lenovo.
Lenovo, a multinational technology firm, welcomed Kobe, who serves as brand ambassador for the conglomerate, when the NBA star was in the Philippines earlier this month.
In a new spot for Lenovo uploaded on Thursday, the aspiring pianist’s love for the instrument is put front and center, as Bryant performs nearly two minutes of one of Beethoven’s most well-known compositions, “Moonlight Sonata.”
Well played. The Black Mamba’s got talent.
Kobe has mentioned Beethoven’s beloved composition once before. Back in January, Kobe tweeted a photo of himself seated at the piano following a tough loss, apparently performing the very same piece, writing, “Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata calms me down when I reach my breaking point #relaxandfocus.”
