Jimmy Butler has odd explanation for ‘Pussy, Money & Weed’ shirt (pic)

Chicago Bulls player Jimmy Butler took to Twitter on Tuesday to issue an apology for a photograph currently making the rounds on the interwebs featuring him wearing a t-shirt that bore the message, “Pussy, Money & Weed.” a reference to a title of a Lil Wayne song.

Apparently, some folks were shocked by the salacious mesage and Butler felt he needed to make amends to those with delicate sensibilities who abhor such reckless and offensive use of lettering on a t-shirt. But the manner in which Butler apologized and the reasoning he provided for why he was wearing such a naughty shirt are curious at best.

The entirety of his mea culpa:

In regards to the picture that is circulating… It was early last year and the shirt simply matched my shoes. In no way do I support the message written on the shirt. I sincerely apologize to any of my fans who may have been offended. Much love, JB.

Which was the continuation of the below tweet Butler offered up on Tuesday:

The shirt simply matched his shoes? Never heard that one before. Apparently, Butler didn’t have a gray shirt that didn’t include references to “Pussy, Money & Weed.”

And the shirt in all its un-blurred glory:

It is certainly understandable that some people would be offended by the clear reference to marijuana, but who cares about the mention of money? Further, what’s so darn offensive about Butler professing his love of cats, or am I missing something here?

Okay, I kid, I kid. But in all seriousness, Butler could have avoided this entire mess by having a “Wine ‘Em, Dine ‘Em, Sixty-Nine ‘Em” shirt as part of his going-out wardrobe. A gray one, in this instance, but maybe having the shirt in multiple colors would do the trick. Then again, had Butler been photographed wearing that shirt, the guy standing next to him would have needed to wear his “I’m With Stupid” shirt. Although it could be argued it would have been perfectly fitting had the guy in the white tee worn an “I’m With Stupid” shirt in the above photo as well.
