During Thursday night’s game between the Midland RockHounds the Double-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, and the San Antonio Missions, a Double-A club of the San Diego Padres, someone in attendance at the ballpark perfectly timed a photograph of several lightning bolts striking around the stadium.

The game was suspended. Shocker.

Ha. Shocker. Get it? Sigh.

Anyhoo, this is the third time in recent weeks, Mother Nature has put on an awesome natural fireworks display with sporting events serving as consequentially underwhelming backdrop. In May, lightning struck the Gateway Arch during a delay of a St. Louis Cardinals game and on Thursday, a lightning bolt was spotted nearby Merion Golf Club during the U.S. Open. Crazy stuff.
