Pirates broadcaster Steve Blass describes walk-off win as ‘kinky’ (audio)

The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Detroit Tigers in dramatic fashion on Thursday night, winning in a duel of pitching staffs by a score of 1-0 on a walk-off single by Russell Martin in the bottom of the 11th inning (video below).

Count Pirates broadcaster Steve Blass among those blown away and left unable to articulate his thoughts on the team, not only the win but perhaps left somewhat dumbfounded by the run the squad has been on of late, going 8-2 in the squad’s last ten games and riding a three-game winning streak.

Searching for words to describe his impressions of the ballgame, Blass used a word not typically associated with baseball broadcasting (and that’s probably a good thing): Kinky.

And the audio of Blass fumbling for the appropriate term with which to describe what had just happened:

Hilarious. Steve Blass? More like “Randy” Blass, am I right?
