According to a poll on Cougarlife.com, David Wright is ranked as Major League Baseball’s “Hottest Cub,” which apparently means that a bunch of presumably desperate, lonely (and frisky?) middle-aged women who frequent the site have taken a shine to the New York Mets third baseman.
The site, which touts itself as the “premiere dating site for cubs (and the cougars who love them),” released the results of a poll of 11,000 respondents, naming the 30-year-old Wright as its No. 1 Cub, narrowly beating out Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp, according to a report in the New York Daily News.
According to site spokesperson Marlo Jordan, “Our recent survey showed that many of our female members enjoy watching sports, and love baseball in particular. With all those virile young men rounding the bases in form fitting pants, what’s not to like?”
The Top 10 Cubs, for those who are wondering:
1. David Wright
2. Cole Hamels
3. Matt Kemp
4. Carlos Gonzalez
5. Robinson Cano
6. Anthony Rizzo
7. Miguel Cabrera
8. Buster Posey
9. Joe Mauer
10. Bryce Harper
Quite the list. Without a doubt, the ten ballplayers listed above include some pretty big names. Cougars apparently know how to pick their ballplayer cubs. Or something.
While Wright recently became engaged to model Holly Beers in January, I’m sure he is honored, flattered and humbled by his ranking as Cougarlife.com’s “Hottest Cub.” Or he isn’t. Yeah, he probably isn’t.
