(Yawn) Man catches foul ball at Giants game while holding a baby (video)
In what slowly is becoming nearly a commonplace occurrence at major league baseball parks, a man holding an infant snagged a foul ball while taking in the San Francisco Giants-Washington Nationals game at AT&T Park on Wednesday. It was just earlier this month that a guy managed to catch a foul ball while holding a baby during a game between the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park.
Watch as yet another man puts a child in harm’s way for a souvenir (via MLB.com):
Perhaps insinuating that the guy put the baby in harm’s way is a bit of a stretch. What else is he supposed to do, really? Run away? Still, it’s arguable that shielding the baby with his free arm instead of extending it may have lowered the odds of something unfortunate occurring.
But in the end, all is well. The baby is fine, the guy got his baseball and we all lived happily ever after.
The fact remains, though, that with the regularity of these incidents occurring, we need someone to up the ante. Otherwise, we will become bored with the “Guy holding a infant and catching balls in the stands” bit before long. Maybe next time we see one of these videos, the guy will do something really crazy, like tossing the baby up in the air, snagging the ball and then catching the baby all in one smooth move. Now that would be an impressive way to get child protection services to track a guy down.
