Fans in NFL stadiums to receive Sunday Ticket for free during games

The NFL has learned that when compared to watching the game at home, the actual experience of watching a game live inside an NFL stadium leaves a lot to be desired for most folks. Exorbitant prices for concessions, parking and the tickets themselves, lines everywhere for everything, excessively inebriated fans shouting vulgarities; all these things make actually attending an NFL game a less-than-desirable endeavor. And those annoyances don’t even take into account the quality of watching a game on high definition on a big-screen television, among all the many creature comforts of home.

With all those factors working against the league, the NFL has been redoubling its efforts to try to spark the interest of fans by incorporating some new strategies to convince fans that the in-stadium gameday experience can be a pleasurable one.

That includes attempting to harness some of those aforementioned creature comforts of home, including the ability to watch multiple games at once courtesy of Sunday Ticket and NFL RedZone.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell reports that according to NFL senior executive Eric Grubman, fans attending games will have the ability to enjoy Sunday Ticket and NFL RedZone for free, presumably through their smartphones or other mobile devices.

An interesting idea, to be sure, but like the ill-conceived concept to air locker room footage during games, it probably isn’t enough to convince most folks already not attending games to mess with the cushy and cheaper experience of watching games at home.
